Человечество стремилось к развитию. Нет, не ради благих и возвышенных целей о величии человеческого вида – все из-за лени. Куда как проще поставить вместо себя работать робота, чем брать в руки кайло, согласитесь? Но нужны ресурсы, и люди их нашли. Другие планеты. Как раз на одной такой, Купер-9, расположенной довольно далеко от Солнечной Системы, и располагались шахты. Земля-то давно исчерпала себя в качестве ресурсной базы, да и ломать то место, где живешь – неблагодарная затея.

Неприятная атмосфера, высокое содержание тяжелых металлов – человеку там в высшей степени не комфортно, а потому в качестве рабочей силы были туда отправлены мыслящие роботы, со всеми вытекающими последствиями. Чего жалеть консервные банки? Пусть вкалывают. За энергию, само собой, лишь бы живы были. Эффективные менеджеры поработали во всей красе, урезав бюджеты и сократив материальное обеспечение по максимуму.
Долго ли коротко, но законы робототехники, выведенные внезапно писателем-фантастом, дали сбой в электронных мозгах. Роботы взбунтовались от притеснения, захватив планету. На подавление бунта были направлены специальные роботы-убийцы, способные к полету и невероятные по силовой мощи. Теперь оставшимся под землей приходится несладко, ведь любое посещение поверхности чревато атакой и последующей аннигиляцией. Впрочем, это не могло остановить Узи, так как ей нужно доказать себе и остальным, что выход из безвыходной ситуации существует.
